Processing Duration
One major benefit of the accelerated procedure are the legally binding deadlines, which are included in the agreement between the employer and the State Reception Authority.
The prerequisite is that the application documents are complete:
Responsible Authority |
Step |
Duration |
Recognition Office |
Recognition Procedure |
Approx. 2 months |
Federal Employment Agency |
Approval Procedure |
1 week |
German Foreign Mission |
Visa Process |
Appointment for visa application: 3 weeks, Visa Decision: approx. 3 weeks |
Extensions are possible on a case by case basis, wherebythe Recognition Office must notify the State Reception Authority in such cases in a timely manner.
In many cases, Federal Employment Agency reviews whether the foreign worker is qualified for the position based on the “Declaration of Employment” form. If no questions arise or no additional requests have been made within a week, approval is deemed granted.
The Accelerated Skilled Worker Procedure abroad assumes a pre-approval of the visa. Upon submission of such pre-approval, the foreign skilled worker will be given an appointment to apply for a visa at the relevant foreign mission within three weeks. If all documents are complete, the foreign mission will generally decide on the visa within an additional three weeks.
