Required Documents

  Bildrechte: LAB NI

The following documents are required to initiate the procedure:
A concrete job offer must be available. Additionally, the skilled worker must grant power of attorney to the future employer. Only then can the employer initiate the procedure and act as an intermediary between the involved authorities, including certification recognition authorities, the Federal Employment Agency, and the German foreign mission where the skilled worker will apply for a visa.

The State Reception Authority ensures that deadlines are met and requests any missing documents from the employer or skilled worker.

To apply for the accelerated procedure, the authorized employer must submit:

    • A power of attorney from the foreign skilled worker. If a lawyer is engaged, a sub-power of attorney may be required.
      • A copy of the foreign skilled worker’s passport.

For recognition of foreign professional qualifications, the following additional documents are required:

          • Proof of qualifications – e.g., professional or academic degrees that enable the skilled worker to work in Germany
          • A tabular summary (in German) of completed vocational training and employment history from graduation to application.
          • If applicable, work certificates, reference letters, and additional qualifications, including certificates of participation in further training, courses, or seminars
          • A signed statement by the skilled worker that no prior recognition application has been submitted

Submitting copies or digital versions of the documents is generally sufficient.
